Frequently Asked Questions
What is dye sublimation printing?
Dye sublimation printing produces high quality, long lasting results as the ink chemically combines with the material being printed. For a full explanation, please visit the Our Prining Methods page.
How does dye sublimation compare to screen printing?
Dye sublimation printing allows full multi-printing, right up to photo quality. Screen printing is usually used for single colour designs, or designs with only a few colours. With screen printing, the more colours the more expensive it gets. With dye sublimation there are no limits of the colours you can use. Also, the results of screen printing are not as resistant to wear and washing.
How long will the printed design last on an article?
It depends on how much wear, how many times its washed and much much sunlight it gets exposed to.
Dye sublimation clothing may lose some slight initial colour vibrancy after the very first wash, but often the garment wears out long before the design does. Ceramic items, such as mugs, are dishwasher safe and once again will not show any significant colour differences after the first wash. We've tested our mugs in many full dishwasher cycles and they still look fantastic!
The design will be physically damaged on softer materials if the surface is deeply scratched.
You are also advised to avoid strong, prolonged, direct sunlight on items as this can cause premature fading.
How to I supply artwork for a design?
To find out how to supply artwork for your product / design, please visit the 'How To Supply Artwork' page.
What formats do you accept for designs?
We will accept JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PNG, and PDF format images with a maximum file size of 10 MB. To find out more, please visit the 'How To Supply Artwork' page.
Can you print on any colour?
Dye sublimation printing produces the best results on white or very light colours. The darker the background, the less effective the design, particularly if there are white elements or light colours. We cannot print on very dark or black backgrounds. Most of the products we sell are thus white.
Vinyl printing is reduced to a predefined set of colours, and you usually cannot have more than two colours per design. However, we can print on any colour fabric.
How long will it take for you to produce my order.
This depends on whether we carry the item in stock and how many items you order. Each product page will tell you if the item is stocked or has to be ordered. The table below gives approximate lead times for producing items (guidance only), but these may vary dependent on current demand and stocked item availability:

Are there discounts for bulk purchases?
Yes, there are discounts if you purchase 10 or more items and 50 or more items. The prices for these quantities are given on each product page.
Do you make samples for approval?
For larger orders, and after payment has been received, we may make proof samples at our discretion. Please ask when you place your order.
Can I supply articles for you to print on?
For full colour dye sublimation printing we prefer to provide the items for printing as they have been tried and tested as dye sublimation compatible. There are a few exceptions for articles that are 100% polyester, such as reflective safety jackets.
If you really want to supply items for printing, you do so at your own risk and without guarantee on the success and durability of the results. Please also see our Terms & Conditions.
For vinyl printing we can print on many types of fabric, provided that the surface is not flocked or fluffy and the weave isn't too coarse.
Once again, itrem are provided for vinyl printing your own risk and without guarantee on the success and durability of the results. Please see our Terms & Conditions.
Do you supply any other products than those listed on the website?
Our website does not contain an exhaustive list of all the items that can be dye sublimation printed, so if there is anything that you would like to have printed that isn't on the website, please contact us and we'll see if we can find it for you.
I see that Quantum Enterprises uses PayPal. Do you need a PayPal account to make a purchase?
No! It is still a common misconception that you need to open a PayPal account to pay through PayPal. This is not true. PayPal will process your credit card details just like any other online payment system. You will be given the option to open a PayPal account at the end of your purchase, but this is completely optional.
How do I checkout and complete my purchase?
To complete your purchase, click on the shopping basket icon (
) near to the top right of the page. You will then be taken to a screen where you can provide the necessary details.
How do I know what is in my shopping basket?
To see what is in your shopping basket, click on the shopping basket icon (
) near to the top right of the page.
I'm having problems paying using PayPal - what should I do?
PayPal, like many Internet based services, sometimes has problems with the sheer volume of people using it. This can reduce its speed and make it seem like it is not responding. If this seems to be the case, try again an hour or so later, perhaps when there are likely to be less people on line.
If PayPal is rejecting your credit card information, please make absolutely sure you are entering the correct information. Make sure that your credit card is one of the recognised major cards. Check that your card has not expired and enter the details that match those on the card.
The security numbers (CAPTCHA) at the bottom of the payment screen do not have spaces between them - we have had customers who have been unable to complete a purchase because they thought that spaces were required.
If you have already created a PayPal account, PayPal will expect you to use it. It will not allow you to make a credit card payment as if you didn't already have an account. However, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT YOU CAN MAKE A PURCHASE WITH A CREDIT CARD, AND DO NOT NEED TO OPEN A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE.
If you are still unable to resolve the problem, and cannot pay by another method, please contact PayPal directly.
How else can I pay, other than using PayPal?
Payment for products or services may be made in the following ways:
- On-line via the PayPal secure credit card transaction service.
- Cheque (UK only)
- Postal Order (UK only)
Please make Postal Orders and Cheques payable to 'Quantum Enterprises'.
Customers in the UK: If you wish to pay by cheque, you can still shop and add items to your basket. At checkout you will be given the option to print out an order form rather than make payment.
PayPal is the preferred method of payment, as it is secure and the quickest method.
Please allow up to 5 working days for cheques, money orders and postal orders to be processed and cleared.
As you are based in the UK, do you ship to the USA or other parts of the world?
Although our prices are quoted in UK Pounds Sterling (with an approximate conversion in US Dollars) we will accept your order from most countries in the world, in any of the main currencies.
You may preview shipping costs before purchase when you view your shopping cart. For more details see the Shipping page
Your prices are in Pounds (£). How am I charged outside of the UK?
Don't worry about the fact that prices are in UK Pounds Sterling, or converting the UK price into your currency, your credit card company will do this when you make your payment.
